Barclays Travel Money Card Review – Visa card
As an alternative to carrying large amounts of cash when travelling abroad, the Barclays Travel Money card has its obvious attractions. The card allows you to preload US dollars, Euros and Sterling onto it and offers competitive withdrawal fees. The Chip and Pin technology offers a high level of security and it is also worth noting that the card is accepted at over 16 million outlets worldwide where the Visa sign exists.

What’s not so good?
The card undoubtedly offers a favourable package overall when travelling abroad, but the maximum load of £2,500 is not as high as some other cards on the market. It may be worth looking around if that does not suit your spending plans. You also need to be a Barclay’s customer to qualify for the card in the first place. Loading options are slightly limited compared to other travel cards as you have to use the specifically assigned Barclays telephone number.
Inventive, but not a particularly attractive card design.
There is a 2% charge for cash withdrawals and 2.75% currency conversion charge to take note of. Aside from that, it compares favourably with a lot of its rivals and crucially there is no card issue fee.
You can load funds onto your card using the specifically assigned Barclays telephone number 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
