In addition to fast, convenient top-up facilities – which will now be available at any one of the Post Office’s 11,500 branches – the five new currency cards will come with balance-checking facilities and SMS top-up, which allows cardholders to add funds while they are overseas.
The cards, which form part of a major expansion of the Post Office’s Travel Money Card Plus range. Chip and PIN-enabled MasterCard and used like a debit card in millions of shops, bars and restaurants – and at ATMs – worldwide.
“The timing of the new currency introductions could not be better with the winter sun season now fully underway,” added Mr Brown.
“The four long-haul currencies now available on a Travel Money Card Plus all feature in our top 12 bestsellers and South Africa featured as one of the top 10 best value destinations in the recent Post Office Long Haul Report.”
The Post Office Travel Money Card left thousands of holidaymakers without a means to make purchases when it stopped working in February.
