Top up by High Street Bank

Debit Cards did not explode into the banking scene, instead, they snuck in with the stealth of debtors at an auctioneer's convention. With time though, they have gained popularity and have now found their way into the public eye. In fact, they are giving traditional payments competition with 56% of all adults in USA having used a prepaid card by 2014.

A prepaid card might have some similarities with debit cards and credit cards but the differences are stark.

With a credit card you promise to pay afterwards. With a prepay card the money is deducted the moment the card is swiped. It is more like a Debit card than a credit card but you don't need to have a bank account to have a prepaid card. Its biggest advantage is that it allows you to make payment anywhere without the burden of an account.

Some might worry that topping up is a challenge but that is not the case. If you have a bank account at any high street bank, you can top up your prepaid card with these easy steps:

Topping up by High Street Bank

1.) Notify your bank that you want to top up your prepaid card. This can be done through a phone call or their website if they have one.

2.) Once the bank has been notified you will be presented with a form to fill. On it, you will need to make sure you write the level of access the card is granted, the sort code and your account number.

3.) Once the form is completed, state the amount you want to withdraw from your account. If you want to cut the waiting time, then make sure to state your Cashplus account number when filling in your sort code.

4.) After this, all that's left for you is to wait for your card.

The waiting period is normally less than a week. If you decide to use the Banker's Automated Clearing Services, then the money should be available to use by the end of the day. It will, however, take the bank 3 business days to receive the order.

The biggest advantage prepaid cards have is that they are not directly linked to your bank account. This means that not only will it help you keep your spending in check, but in the case of theft it will mitigate the losses significantly. Prepaid cards can still be cancelled if the bank is informed of the theft so you can spend assured your funds are secure no matter what.
