What's Good

Love music? This card is for you!

The Ministry of Sound prepaid card is currently only available to over 18s, but Ministry of Sound are planning to have a card available to over 13s sometime this year. And to keep you music lovers happy, Ministry of Sound also offer a free MP3 download with every 10 transactions on your card!

The Chip & PIN activated Ministry of Sound prepay card runs on the Maestro network, and can be used at over 7 million locations worldwide. It also has low reload fees – with reloads at the Post Office costing just £1. Of course, you can also top up online using a credit or debit card, or using cash at one of 15,000 PayPoint locations around the UK.

What's not so good?

The initial issue fee for the card is slightly higher than others available at £9.99 for a standard design, or £19.99 for a customised card. The foreign transaction charge of 3% makes this card quite expensive for use abroad.

Application Process
4 Stars

As well as the usual online application, you can also apply for your Ministry of Sound prepay card via text message. The £9.99 issue fee will be charged directly to your prepaid card, so you don’t need a credit or debit card to be able to apply. Standard card designs only are available through this option.

Card Designs
5 Stars

Three cool card designs are available as standard, or you can upload your favourite picture and design your own card! The custom card design tool is simple and fun to use.

Fees
4 Stars

For regular use this card is excellent value, with a transaction fee of just £0.20, and top ups at the Post Office costing a mere £1. However, reloads by credit/debit card or PayPoint are charged at 3%, and the 3% foreign transaction charge means that this is not the cheapest card available for use abroad.
